Build a codebook lookup routine for G3 and G2 study
Practise finding a topic, checking its scope, reading table notes, and recording a useful reference.
Start with the question’s conditions
On your study sheet, list the equipment or material, location, quantities, units, and exact thing being asked. Mark words such as minimum, maximum, only, except, and not. These are search clues, not details to skip.
Locate the topic and confirm scope
Use the contents or index in your assigned reference. Read the heading, definitions, and scope around the result. A matching keyword is only a starting point; compare the full conditions with the question.
Read across the whole table
When a practice question points to a table, record its title, row label, column label, units, and applicable notes. Trace the selected row and column before reading the cell. Then check whether a note changes how to use it.
Record the route back
Keep the reference title, edition, clause or table identifier, conditions, and your own explanation together. Revisit the same lookup without your note. For exam-day book, annotation, and tab rules, use the instructions supplied by your exam provider.
A lookup has four checkpoints.
Use a question from your course and move through each checkpoint with your assigned reference beside you.
Write the resulting reference on the printable revision sheet. A page number alone leaves out the edition and conditions.
